Series Summary
Christmas will be here before we know it, and at Parkview this month, we’re going to take a look at some of the different aspects of the gift that God gave to us in Christ. If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you have probably already learned that Christ is a gift of hope and peace, of redemption and restoration. So we’re calling this Christmas series Rediscovering Christmas: The Gift That Changed The World. Because we all need to be reminded of these things. We all need to rediscover what Christmas is all about.
During a busy season, we need to take the time, slow down, and remember the gift that Jesus is for us. A gift for those who are hopeless, or feel forgotten. A gift for those who feel lonely or abandoned. A gift of redemption and restoration. A gift that was God's plan all along.
We hope you'll join us this month as we seek to rediscover the gift of Christmas, and how it can transform our lives today.
Sermon Summary
Perhaps one of the best Christmas passages isn't one we normally think of in that light. But as we consider Jesus as God's gift to mankind, we cannot ignore John 3:16, which says that "God so loved the world that he gave..." He gave us a gift. He gave us his Son.
And because gifts mean something, we can see something significant in the nature and character of God as he seeks to save us. We can see that he loves. And we can see that he wants to redeem and restore us. He wants to remove the separation caused by sin, and bring us back into a right relationship with himself.
So he gave us his Son as a baby at Christmas, who would one day be the man who went to the cross on our behalf, to pay the price for sin.
That's the gift we have in Jesus.
