Series Summary

When Jesus walked this earth, he revealed to us what God is like in a variety of ways: through his teaching, through his character, and through his miracles. These incredible signs and wonders show us the nature and the heart of God.

But what is a miracle? A miracle is an extraordinary event of God intervening in his creation. A miracle is an act of God coming to us. And God uses these miracles to reveal Himself to us.

Throughout this series, we will examine several of the different miracles that Jesus performed, setting aside the natural order of things to accomplish something spectacular. Since we spent a significant amount of time in John last year, we will focus more intently on the miracles that Mathew, Mark, and Luke describe. And through all of these events, our hope is that you are able to see God more clearly through the activities of Jesus.

Sermon Summary

Most of this series will be based in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. But in this message, we turn to the Gospel of John. Jesus heals a man who had been an invalid for 38 years, and in doing so, asks some questions of him… and of us.

The miracles of Jesus reveal God to us: who he is, what he is like, his nature, his character, and more. In this particular instance, this miracle reveals that God loves us, and he desires to heal us and make us whole. The question he asks of this invalid is one we all must answer. Do we want to get well? If so, with his help, we must get up and do something. We must step out of our comfort zone, because it’s in our comfort zone where we will likely remain sick. We must take the risk and allow Jesus to do something miraculous in our lives.

Do you want to get well?
