ABOUT PARKVIEW

Our doors are open to people from all walks of life, and all sorts of church backgrounds, no matter where they might be on their spiritual journey. You will soon find that this is a place where you can feel at home, even if you’ve never been to church before.

WHO WE ARE

An Active Church

PVCC has activities for people of every age. Worship services, special events, youth and children’s ministries, adult Bible fellowships, mission trips, community involvement, groups for men and women, summer camps… These are just a few of the ways in which we lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus.

A Bible-Based Church

At PVCC, we are focused on the Bible. Everything we need to know about God, about life, about our origins, about our destiny, about knowing right from wrong, can be found in the Bible. God inspired it, and it is the final authority for everything we do as Christians and as a church.

A Community Church

For years, PVCC has had an influence upon the community of Sedalia.  We seek to increasingly be an instrument of God’s love and grace to our neighbors and the people of this and the surrounding communities.

A World-Wide Church

PVCC has a long history of supporting the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. We take seriously the Lord’s command to "make disciples of all the nations."

A Christian Church

Our message is "Jesus." He was crucified for our sins. He rose from the grave and gives people new life. He alone is Lord and Savior. The church belongs to Him.

A Sharing Church

We share our faith and love with as many as we can reach and our possessions as persons who know that everything we have belongs to God to be used for His purposes.

A Restoration Movement Church

We are part of what is called the Restoration Movement. Started almost 200 years ago, the Restoration Movement strives to "do church" like it is displayed in the New Testament; nothing more, nothing less. As such, we have no bishops or superintendents or national headquarters. We elect our own church leaders, call and support our own ministers, and decide where our mission support will go. We are not isolationists, though. Our congregations freely associate with one another to accomplish tasks too big for one congregation alone.

A Welcoming Church

We would love to have you serve the Lord with us here at PVCC as we strive to grow in our faith and maturity in Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

About God

We believe there is only one God, revealed in three Persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He exists as God the Creator Father; as Jesus, the Savior and Friend of every individual; and as the Holy Spirit, the Guide and Comforter of those who trust and obey Jesus. (Ephesians 4:6John 3:16Matthew 28:192 Corinthians 3:17)

About the Scriptures

We believe the Bible is God’s Word, and God’s Word is the final authority for the Church and for believers. We believe the Bible was written by inspiration from God’s Holy Spirit. Everything we believe, everything we teach, and everything we preach is based on the foundation of the Scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:16-172 Peter 1:21)

About Mankind

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated from Him through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own effort… Only by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus, can man be made right with God. (Romans 3:23Ephesians 2:8-10)

About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. You are therefore "saved" by turning away from sin and the world, and instead giving your life to Christ to follow Him and receive forgiveness through the blood He shed on the cross. This decision is expressed outwardly in baptism which takes place by immersion in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism represents the beginning of a new life with God who forgives sins, and puts His Holy Spirit in you. (Matthew 28:19-20Acts 2:37-38Acts 16:31-332 Timothy 2:19)

About the Christian Life

Everyone who turns to Christ receives the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who leads, transforms, and empowers the believer to live for Christ, and not merely for himself or herself. A follower of Christ will express their faith through selfless acts of love. (Acts 2:38Galatians 5:22-25)

About the Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head and each believer is a part of it. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him, by serving each other, by teaching Christ’s commands, and by making Him known to the lost world. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13Matthew 28:19-201 Corinthians 12:27)

About Worship

We believe that the only object of our worship is God. Therefore, our worship services are designed to please Him. Scripture indicates the kind of worship that pleases Him. Like the Church in the 1st century, we emphasize the teaching of Jesus’ apostles, the fellowship (serving together) of the church, the breaking of bread (communion), and prayer. (John 4:24Acts 2:42)
