Series Summary
Christmas will be here before we know it, and at Parkview this month, we’re going to take a look at some of the different aspects of the gift that God gave to us in Christ. If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you have probably already learned that Christ is a gift of hope and peace, of redemption and restoration. So we’re calling this Christmas series Rediscovering Christmas: The Gift That Changed The World. Because we all need to be reminded of these things. We all need to rediscover what Christmas is all about.
During a busy season, we need to take the time, slow down, and remember the gift that Jesus is for us. A gift for those who are hopeless, or feel forgotten. A gift for those who feel lonely or abandoned. A gift of redemption and restoration. A gift that was God’s plan all along.
We hope you’ll join us this month as we seek to rediscover the gift of Christmas, and how it can transform our lives today.
Sermon Summary
Throughout the month, we have examined the gift of God that we have in the birth of Christ from several different angles. For Christmas Sunday, we take a look at John’s Prologue, and his introduction of the Incarnation. John does not describe the birth narrative like some of the other Gospel writers. But he does describe Jesus coming to earth as one of us, and why it matters.
What John describes is that the gift of Jesus was the plan all along. And that plan was set into place to save us from our sin… from the very beginning. Because of that plan, Christmas, and the birth of Jesus, really changes everything.
