Series Summary
Our mission as Christians is to “Go and make disciples…” Our job is create disciple-making disciples. But often, we don’t know just how to do that. Many Christians are hesitant to share with others because they just don’t understand the Gospel message all that well. Others are newer believers, and may still be learning. Either way, we need to make sure we have a solid grasp on the fundamental elements of our faith. We need to be able to comprehend these well enough to explain them clearly to others who may ask why we believe. So it’s worth taking to time to reexamine some basics.
In this sermon series, we take a look at five elements that comprise the salvation process. Each of these are necessary ingredients, and all of them work together to help us experience the saving grace that God wants to extend to mankind. The elements are faith, confession, repentance, baptism, and new life.
As we study each of these elements, our prayer is that you experience a deeper understanding of the offer God has extended to us, that you perceive his grace more fully, and that you come to know his love for you more intimately. Join us as we take a look at the elements of our faith.
Sermon Summary
Confession is the second element that we need to understand. And there are two aspects of confession that can be seen in the Bible. One is the confession of sins. We take a brief look at this side of confession here, but will focus on it more in connection with the element of repentance. That’s next.
The other side of confession is to confess Christ as Lord. And this is critical for our faith, for a number of reasons: It shows our loyalty, it displays our commitment, it brings a level of accountability into our lives, it gives us an anchor to cling to, and in the end, it brings glory to God. All of this and more is connected to the concept of confession in Scripture.
