Series Summary
Our mission as Christians is to “Go and make disciples…” Our job is create disciple-making disciples. But often, we don’t know just how to do that. Many Christians are hesitant to share with others because they just don’t understand the Gospel message all that well. Others are newer believers, and may still be learning. Either way, we need to make sure we have a solid grasp on the fundamental elements of our faith. We need to be able to comprehend these well enough to explain them clearly to others who may ask why we believe. So it’s worth taking to time to reexamine some basics.
In this sermon series, we take a look at five elements that comprise the salvation process. Each of these are necessary ingredients, and all of them work together to help us experience the saving grace that God wants to extend to mankind. The elements are faith, confession, repentance, baptism, and new life.
As we study each of these elements, our prayer is that you experience a deeper understanding of the offer God has extended to us, that you perceive his grace more fully, and that you come to know his love for you more intimately. Join us as we take a look at the elements of our faith.
Sermon Summary
The fourth element is one that many people are confused about. Baptism is the fourth element, and it is one that we need to examine carefully to see just what the Bible has to say. And when you take a good look at all of the passages the speak on this topic, you’ll find that it is a critically important part of God’s process of saving us.
Think of the process of salvation in this way: it’s as simple of a matter as prepositional phrases. We are saved BY grace, THROUGH faith, AT baptism, FOR good works. If we get any of those prepositions out of order, we mix up the reality of God’s process of salvation. We aren’t saved by baptism, or by good works, we are saved BY grace, THROUGH faith, AT baptism, FOR good works. It’s really as simple as that.
So what do you need to do about it?
