Psalm 23 reminds us that the greatest blessing in life isn't simply having answers to every question or an easy path to walk — it's having a Shepherd who walks with us. David doesn't describe a life free from valleys or hardships. Instead, he points us to the God who leads us through every season. The Shepherd provides what we need, restores our weary souls, guides us onto the right path, and stays close when the road grows dark. His presence is the source of our confidence, not the absence of trouble.
Many of us spend our lives trying to take the lead. We make plans, chase success, and try to control every outcome. But Psalm 23 reminds us that we were never meant to shepherd ourselves. Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and he knows where he is leading. Even when we might not understand his direction, we can trust him to lead us in the right direction. The One who laid down his life for his sheep will never stop leading them toward life, peace, and ultimately home.
So this week, ask yourself a simple question: Am I following the Shepherd, or am I asking him to follow me? Peace isn't found in having complete control. It's found in staying close to the One who does.
